Over the past 5 years I’ve built myself a readership that went from seven people per week to over 1200 per day on my main political blog. Twelve hundred isn’t even in the league of the “big” blogs, either. They have upwards of 5,000 hits per day. It’s a continuous learning process, especially if you want to make money blogging.
Making money blogging doesn’t mean you have to be Perez Hilton, dishing the Hollywood gossip. You just have to be passionate enough about your subject to make others want to know your thoughts. It can be law, kittens, cell phones, Mac Books or knitting. Doesn’t matter. Just be passionate and know a thing or two about the subject, and the readers will find you.
Well, sorta. I mean, that’s how I did it, but it took me almost a year before I had 200 readers a day. If you want to work a little faster than that (you do) and want to sell advertising space on your blog (you do), there are other factors you need to consider. Niche marketing, Google traffic, organic linking – is this all Greek to you?
Fear not. One of my favorite writing/marketing bloggers has a course – available tomorrow – that can help you step by step. I will be using it as well, to increase readership and ad revenue. People come to me for advice all the time on how to be a medium sized blogger – and I go to guys like Yaro Starek to learn how to be a big blogger!
So follow along with me, starting tomorrow, on the Become A Blogger course. For today there are a few free videos to get you started, and as of tomorrow, the course goes live.
Enjoy! And feel free to come back here, where you and I can compare notes.
